Brown and white beach balls bounce against a blue background
Beach Balls Two block linoleum cut $15
Two linoleum blocks used to create Beach Balls print
Linoleum cuts are part of the relief printing family which is exactly opposite intaglio printmaking. With linoleum cuts, wood cuts and wood engravings the area that you leave on the block holds the ink; in intaglio the areas you etch away hold the ink. Taking a 4" x 6" block that has a thin layer of grey linoleum adheared to the top I carve away at the block to leave lines which will support the ink. In Beach Balls there is one block for the brown and one block for the blue. The white you see is simply the unmarred paper. This print was done in anticipation for a print exchange which never happened.
